The actress began her acting career in the television industry during the latter half of 1990 and has since appeared in a variety of films, such as The Woods, Blue Car Murder by Numbers Blood and Chocolate and The Anna Nicole Story. Bruckner launched her career in 2001 at the 11 years old. In 1999, she appeared in The Bold and the Beautiful daytime soap and in several TV pilots. Bruckner was 15 when she was cast in her first major role as a teenager for the film Blue Car (2002). In the film, Bruckner played a young high-school student having an illicit affair and David Strathairn. Roger Ebert, a film critic, wrote that Bruckner nailed this challenging script completely with conviction. Her role in the film was selected at the Independent Spirit Awards for "Best Female Lead". Her family consisted of two brothers and one sister. Her mother tongue was Hungarian as she often practised the language to stay fluent. Bruckner was a Hollywood California native born to an Hungarian and Russian father, who separated from their mother at some point in the past, was raised by an German maternal grandparent. They met in Hungary. They immigrated in America. U.S. through an Italian refugee camp. There are two sisters and one younger brother.
